CELEBRATE EARTH DAY!
Recycle Tees Made From Plastic Water Bottles

The Challenge

Introduce students to sustainable fashion while celebrating Earth Day through hands-on design and business experience.

Approach

Students designed a line of graphic tees using recycled materials, like fabric made from plastic water bottles, generously provided by Anvil. The apprenticeship focused on storytelling through design, understanding the environmental impact of textile choices, and creating fashion forward products rooted in sustainability.

Outcome
  • Students gained hands-on experience in design thinking and upcycling techniques.
  • Tees were professionally produced, marketed, and sold to the public at the Earth Day Fair, with proceeds benefiting Citizen Schools.
  • Reinforced the connection between sustainable fashion, function, and environmental responsibility.
